Do you need more of God’s presence, His peace, spiritual guidance, and direction? God promises in His Word that we will find Him when we search for Him with all of our hearts and soul. Deuteronomy 4:29 says, “But if from there (which means no matter where you are in life) you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all of your soul.”
So, how do we look for the Lord with all of our heart and soul?
I used to think this meant making sure I went to church on Sunday. I’d go to church on Sunday, listen to the sermon, and leave feeling uplifted and inspired. After hearing the sermon, I was ready for whatever challenges came my way.
That’s how I felt on Sunday. And then Monday would come around. Everything would have been great if it weren’t for Monday. Monday was the beginning of the work week. Immediately after my first cup of coffee, I’d find myself confronted with issues. Issues turned into problems and problems turned into stress, anxiety, and frustration. Before long, I’d find myself mentally and spiritually drained and wondering, “What happened to that great sense of peace and well-being I felt on Sunday?” Does this sound familiar?
Through much heartache and pain, I finally learned that the inspiration I got from Sunday sermons was not enough to carry me through the entire work week. I needed more of God’s Word during the week to sustain me. I came to realize that if I wanted to feel God’s presence each day in my life, I needed more regular doses of God’s Word.
You see, the Word of God is food for our souls. Just as we need food for physical energy, we need God’s Word for spiritual energy. So, I ask again, “Do you need more of God’s presence, His peace, spiritual guidance, and direction?” If so, I’d like to suggest that you try connecting with God on a regular basis through Scripture. You can read a few passages of Scripture each day on your own—Or—join a Bible Study—Or you can even start a Bible Study using our Big Picture of the Bible study guides, video lessons, and other Bible study resources at www.bigpictureofthebible.com. Reading the Bible is one of the best ways to experience all that God has for you.
